Our work focuses on indigenous-led carbon and biodiversity projects and increasing green infrastructure in communities with low climate resilience. We are currently seeking a skilled accountant with experience in nonprofit financial management to assist in the review of our IRS 990 long form filing. Job Summary: We are looking for a volunteer Nonprofit Accountant with expertise in IRS 990 filings. The primary responsibility of this role is to review our completed 990 long form for accuracy and compliance. This is a project-based opportunity that does not require ongoing weekly commitments. Key Responsibilities: • Review the IRS 990 long form for accuracy, completeness, and compliance w/ GAAP and nonprofit tax regulations. • Ensure monthly financial statements underlying our 990 are in compliance w/ GAAP and nonprofit tax regulations. • Provide recommendations or corrections as needed to ensure compliance. • Assist in clarifying any questions related to the 990 filing. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience. • Experience with nonprofit accounting, must have reviewed IRS 990 long forms. • Strong knowledge of nonprofit tax regulations and financial management. • CPA certification is preferred but not required. • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
