About the position The Senior Payroll Consultant at Kainos plays a crucial role in managing the payroll operations for both the USA and Canada. This position is responsible for ensuring that payroll processes are executed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant government regulations. The Senior Payroll Consultant will provide exceptional customer service to Kainos employees and collaborate with external payroll platforms to maintain seamless operations. This role is pivotal in transforming digital services and making a positive impact on the lives of millions of citizens and Fortune 500 companies. In this position, the Senior Payroll Consultant will serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters, providing timely and accurate information and assistance. The consultant will ensure the accurate and timely processing of US and Canadian payroll, which includes handling new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates, and benefits adjustments. Additionally, the role involves processing involuntary deductions, such as garnishments and court-ordered payments, as well as manual payments and ACH transactions. Record-keeping is another essential duty, where the consultant will prepare and maintain meticulous records and reports of payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with record-keeping standards and best practices. The Senior Payroll Consultant will also ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws, as well as adherence to best practices in both the USA and Canada. Facilitating audits by preparing and providing necessary records and documentation to auditors is also a key responsibility, ensuring smooth audit processes. Moreover, the consultant will identify opportunities for improvement in payroll processing software, systems, and procedures, making recommendations for enhancements or updates. Requirements Minimum of five years of related experience in payroll management, demonstrating a track record of success and progressive responsibility. , Extensive knowledge of payroll functions, including preparation, balancing, internal controls, and payroll taxes. , Thorough understanding of relevant legal regulations governing payroll in both the USA and Canada, including benefits administration. , Commitment to ongoing professional development to stay abreast of changes in payroll regulations and best practices. , Excellent communication and customer service skills to effectively address employee inquiries and collaborate with stakeholders. , Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail to identify and resolve payroll-related issues efficiently. , Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as payroll-specific software. Nice-to-haves Bachelor's degree in accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field. , Experience using Workday. , Experience with Paylocity preferred, showcasing proficiency in payroll software.
