Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Payroll Tax Accountant to join our dynamic Finance team. This position offers the flexibility of a remote work environment, allowing you to contribute effectively from anywhere. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the meticulous maintenance, reconciliation, and review of general ledger accounts for designated companies. You will actively assist in various payroll tax functions, encompassing processing, responding to tax notices, system integration, and in-depth research on complex tax matters. We are in search of a candidate with extensive expertise in payroll and multi-state taxes, paired with robust analytical capabilities. Key Responsibilities Assist in the preparation of periodic, quarterly, and year-end payroll tax filings, including W2 preparation. Support the processing of tax, garnishment, and wire payments. Maintain and prepare detailed reconciliation files for all assigned accounts. Conduct comprehensive research, review, and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, effectively resolving complex tax challenges. Ensure accurate setup of taxes within payroll systems. Prepare journal entries and assist with accounts payable/payroll voucher processing. Facilitate Schedule L reconciliations. Undertake additional tasks as assigned. Required Skills In-depth knowledge of payroll taxes (Federal, state, and local) and deductions. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research capabilities. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Attentive to detail with the ability to collaborate as an effective team member. Proven success in meeting deadlines and managing stressful situations. Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Proficiency in operating office equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines, and 10-key calculators. Qualifications 2-4 years of experience in general ledger accounting (relevant education may substitute for experience). Proficiency with payroll software, specifically ADP Tax Software. A high school diploma or GED is required; an Associates degree or higher in a related field is preferred.
