Position: Barnes and Noble Apply – HR Coordinator
Location: Village of Westbury

Job Description:
The HR Coordinator is responsible for administrative and operational support for the HR department at the Westbury Home Office. The ideal candidate has a passion for supporting HR functions through the coordination of resources, effective communication, and tools that deliver an exceptional experience for booksellers at Barnes & Noble.
[ads1] Job Responsibilities:
• Manage sensitive information including but not limited to salary, personal information, and organizational structure redesigns
• Support company-wide programs to include tuition assistance, service awards, etc.
• Assist employees with general HR inquiries, referring them to the appropriate resource(s) as applicable
• Facilitate new hire orientation
• Provide recruitment support to include sourcing qualified candidates through ATS and other channels (Linked In, etc.), phone screens, and interview scheduling
• Create a seamless on-boarding experience for all new hires: collect and process all new hire documentation, review background checks, coordinate new hire set up, review I9 documentation, etc.
• Process transactions for all employment life cycle changes such as new hire and personnel actions, promotions, terminations, organizational changes, etc. through required workflow processes
• Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned, in support of the overall HR team/department
• Process requisitions in ATS and partner with HRBP on approvals and reporting
• Process new hire paperwork and personnel files to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations
• Support the planning and execution of activities and initiatives to support and engage employees within the Westbury office
• Maintain our HR system of record (People Soft) to include data entry and reporting
• Provide operational and administrative support to the HR department
Job Requirements:
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive matters and respond timely and effectively to such situations
• Customer service oriented, able to handle requests with diplomacy and care
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of attention to detail
• Knowledge of Microsoft Suite required, specifically Excel
• A high degree of motivation, resourcefulness, and positive energy
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
• BS/BA degree or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform essential functions of the job
• Passionate about people and bookselling
• Desire to continuously learn, take on more complex assignments, and advance a career within Human Resources
• Strong organizational skills and process orientation
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
• Work in-person at the Westbury, NY Home Office
